Pretty easy, my mom used to do it all the time.
Just forget about the gas guage.
She ran out of gas when she picked me up from the airport from my mission. We were going down to Tijuana one time, and she crossed the border on accident because she didn't get off the right exit, THEN ran out of gas.
She had a gift.
