When my gas gauge broke I realized how dependent I am on the LOW FUEL light. When the guage still shows 1/4 to 1/2 a tank the light doesn't come on, and without that light, I've run out enough times that AAA said I had exceeded my maximum number of service calls this year. Each extra one is now $60 until next year. No thanks.
Earlier this week I walked two blocks and bought another 2 gallon gas can from the service station . . . I have several at home now.
The worst thing is that I just paid $700 in car repairs, including the replacement of the fuel pump and sending unit that controls the gas gauge is supposed to turn on the fuel light when the fuel level is low . . . so this wasn't supposed to still be happening. But the fuel light never came on and the car ran out when it was on the last line before empty.
