Competition for Federal jobs is tough

You may laugh, but it is very hard to come from the outside and get into a Federal job. You don't have to have an Ivy degree, but if you are coming straight from school, you'd better have a sterling academic career.

Actually, the best way into government employment is as a veteran. The veteran's preference is hard to top.
