I'm not going to fault a guy for not going out of his way to thank fans
that left the game early. Would it be worth brownie points if he had? Sure. It would have been very big of him to do that. Can you condemn him for not doing it? I guess you could, but you'd really be picking at nits.

At the end of an interview, as a post script, he said thanks to the fans that stayed to the end. And there's something wrong with that? Couldn't you read into that a tacit acknowledgement that the fans who stayed went above and beyond, meaning the fans that left were within their rights to do so? If you insist on reading into his comments beyond what he actually said, I would say one interpretation is as good as another.
