If they had invited Boise while Texas and Oklahoma were flirting with the PAC10, and then approached Kansas St and Kansas and Iowa State and maybe even Missouri, they could have contributed to the Big XII's destabilization.
Perhaps then the Big XII folds as Texas and Oklahoma see other teams looking to bail on the conference as well.
The MWC could have been poised to fill the Big XII's void. It would have been a strong football AND basketball conference.
A football conference with TCU, Boise, Utah, Kansas St and BYU would have been quite strong. And the basketball with BYU, UNLV, San Diego St, Kansas St, Kansas would have been equally as strong.
Instead, the MWC was completely reactionary and did a poor job of positioning itself to be a power conference.
