Correct, the MWC coming straight out and inviting Kansas St isn't a great deal from the KSU perspective. But maybe Texas and the other schools see other Big XII schools thinking about leaving and they go ahead and leave to the PAC 12.

I don't if anything different would have happened. But it seems like the MWC was content to wait and see how the dust settled. And when it did things had changed drastically and they were even less of a player than they were before.
