of the conference. Yes, you are the Texas Tech of the PAC-12 and, yes, I say that even after this season. I view this season as your ceiling - getting to 8-4 on the strength of a very below-average OOC schedule and a .500 record in conference.
Until you start spending more money, your athletic program will always be the bottom of the barrel in the conference. That's the nature of college athletics. Yes, you'll have the occasional season where you beat USC (like we beat Texas this year) but that will hardly be the norm and is more likely an aberration.
As one of the only schools in the NCAA that actually operates in the black, I was amazed at how much BYU spends relative to other P5 schools (and, for that matter, other G5 schools) when we aren't in a conference and don't get that benefit of a huge conference payout. I can only imagine where our levels would be if we were in either P5 conference.
