Want the thinking? Cuz I actually did some.
1. Losing to USU means we will have two straight 7-win seasons. That's okay some places, but I think it will be considered the end of the line at BYU. Senior QB, experienced team, all Bronco's own recruits, third year under this offense, there will be no excuses. That will be seen as the pinnacle of Bronco's ability as a head coach, and it won't be good enough.

2. Losing in-state to at least one someone for five years is not going to be okay (yes, I know that we did beat USU last year, and the year before, but we lost to the U). The donor pressure on the administration is already considerable, and it will explode if we lose to USU again next year, effectively proving BYU has slid to third-best program in the state.

3. Bronco's contract is up after that game. If he does not have an extension before that, he will have to win that game to get one.
