To lose to USU, BYU will have to have a team that's at best 7-4 going in, with no wins over any P5 team. I suppose it's possible that BYU could go in there 10-1 or 11-0 and get beat...wait, no. It isn't.
That's the game that tells the state of the program. If we're better than USU, without any read on where we are with Utah, ok. If we're not as good as USU, a team that couldn't even get an invite to the league we left until we left it, the evidence will be that despite the records being amassed, BYU has actually regressed as a team in the last ten years. That will be enough, I think, for the brethren to decide not to renew Bronco's contract.
