something to consider...
...his overall recruiting base might be smaller than the base of other schools but the percentage of that base that he controls due to BYU being owned by the church is greater than some other schools. He might target mostly LDS athletes but then he usually gets a very high percentage of the kids he targets.

I think he's done some good things with recruiting and he's also been his own worst enemy at the same time. He's done a nice job of targeting non-LDS kids who play at the many Christian academy football factories in talent rich states like California and Texas to expand his recruiting base but at the same time his somewhat arrogant approach (kids have to recruit him and BYU not the other way around) to recruiting and has turned off or rebuffed a lot of kids who wanted to come to BYU. In many cases he's also blown off kids who committed to him but took recruiting trips to other schools after committing to him. In some cases he's done this to the detriment of his own program.

An example of that would be Haoli (Jamora) Kikahi (sp?) who committed to him but continued to take recruiting trips so he pulled the kids scholarship. In a year where our defense failed due to a lack of a pass rush, Kikahi would've been a humongous difference maker. He's a devastating pass rusher and one of the sack leaders in the nation this year with 18 sacks and has over 35 for his Husky career. He would've made a profound difference in every game we lost this season.

Bronco isn't as handicapped regarding recruiting as some make him out to be. He often times makes things more difficult for himself than they need to be and can let his pride get in the way of the success of the team.
