Get in a conference people! We (Utah fans) would joke about BYU actually going independent and that you guys just may be crazy enough to try. We would then laugh about watching BYU begin to slide into Div II irrelevance... Things aren't that bad, and the conference options are slim, but you need to get in somewhere fast.

Boise is going to another BCS bowl simply by winning the MWC. Think about that for a second. You could rule the roost in the MWC and be a perennial BCS bowl team and maybe playoff entrant.

In a conference you're protected when the team is having a mediocre or a bad season. All sports are cyclical and there are bound to be those down years. Being in a conference guarantees you familiar faces to detest or look forward to. Going to a lesser bowl game? Don't worry because Boise is bringing home the big bucks this year from the BCS bowl, and a couple other teams are bringing in a good payday for everyone to share.

We also all know that it's nice to be able to fight for a conference championship if you're not winning the title that year. Give the kids and yourselves something to fight for. Going for perfection is nice but once you fall short of that everything else kinda sucks.

Alright I get it. Bronco was awesome and necessary to clean up the program.. blah blah blah. Things are stable so go and get a real head coach and staff. Pay some money and get someone that has the experience and mentality to have the entire staff recruiting their cougars off and focused on winning. That doesn't mean they won't be good god fear people, it just means they'll have experience from other successful teams/programs and are focused on championships. Think Urban Meyer but church-safe, and please let the man coach! Why not have their ecclesiastical worries handled by proper channels or employ another entity to handle that (I don't know, do something special like assign them a specific High Priest to work with).

BYU TV. I don't know and don't care, so I have no opinion here. Just don't let it stop you from getting into a conference.

Also, please don't try to be like Texas when it comes it revenue split. Split it evenly and enjoy a healthy conference that is respected. If you are insistent that things must be like the Big12, you'll see an unhealthy conference where there is no movement among the top and bottom teams.

I know that was really random but it's fun when you guys are competitive and the rivalry is strong. Lately things have not been trending well for you and unless some changes happen the rivalry will die for certain.
