Although I love Independence for some reasons (Every game on TV, variety, and some awesome future match-ups), it is not a long term fix. The schedules are starting to come together really nice, but what does it matter if we can't even beat the mediocre teams on a cupcake schedule like this year? As soon as we lose that first game we are little more than an afterthought in the National discussion.
Going back to the Mountain West would not be a terrible idea IF we could keep our television contract with ESPN. Obviously a Big 12 invite would be preferable, but that likely won't ever come.
I think Bronco has done all he can at BYU. Next season we will be exposed playing a strong schedule, and will continue to lose support with fans and donors with his immature and arrogant jabs at those who stopped drinking the coolaid and actually hold him accountable for the standard he has set for himself and the program. 4 years since a top 25 ranking, 4 straight losses to the frUtes, and this seasons complete defensive meltdown have clearly painted the picture of what our Program will be as an Independent team under Bronco.
I will always love BYU football for what it stands for and the great memories I have attending the University and the football games. But this year has been one of the most frustrating in my 34 years as a fan. Change would be welcomed on my end.
