BYU can present an annoying atmosphere that brings out the contrarian in people

I find myself opposing people here on things I might not have otherwise. People can be very condescending here and it puts you off. That said, I have no intention to leave the church because of this, it's just an annoyance. But the rudeness with which people express some of their viewpoints here can make you feel like you owe it to the counterargument to give it some more in-depth thought.
