Playing a hunch is going for it on fourth down

Wasting a timeout when you have time on the clock is stupid. Maybe BYU gets a good return on the kickoff. Maybe they kick it out of bounds and we get it at the 35. Lots of things could happen but you limit yourself when you waste a timeout. There was absolutely no reason to take a timeout.
