I think the bigger reason for the TO was to remind the players to
watch for the fake and/or dissuade Memphis from faking. A TO in that situation is not unusual at all. the second is a little unusual but nothing to get all worked up about. Maybe the coaches didn't like the alignment.
BTW, there is no such thing as an "all out block play". When going for a block you try and pick on the weak spot of the opposing team.
