The 60s were iffy.
1970 was the last time a team chose the NIT over the NCAAs. So what I have said is not wrong, but it was changing in the 60s. Which of course I explained in my post - but don't let that stop you from trying to "win" on the internet.
But yes BYU wasn't chosen for the NCAAs that year. But that still didn't detract from their NIT win at that time. Before 1970 the best teams still were not necessarily going to the NCAAs
