This has not been my experience and I am considered alumni of 4 schools.
I graduated fully from two of them and have enough hours at the other two that they count me as alumni. Two of them (one I graduate from and the other I didn't) pretty much contact me only to ask for money. The other two (BYU is one) send me regular updates and invitations to events. BYU only asks me for money once a year.

I think that it goes both ways. A number of years ago I updated my info with the BYU Alumni Association, which included my interests, etc., and they have been great about keeping me updated with things - I get a weekly email from them and separate notifications of related events near where I live (I'm outside of Utah). Have you updated your information with the BYU Alumni Association?
