That's once in 6 years. The other bowl destinations are Poinsettia Bowl v. MWC, Miami Beach Bowl v. American, and potentially the Hawaii Bowl v. American or C-USA. (And, I'm crossing my fingers that BYU is involved in the new bowl in Los Angeles).
Let that sink in and help to manage your expectations.
BYU is not getting a Notre Dame-like deal any time soon. Notre Dame has a contract with one of the NY6 bowls and all of the other ACC affiliated bowls, mostly against P5 opponents. They can REPLACE any ACC team as long as their final record is within one game (or better) of the ACC team they are replacing. THAT is a sweet deal and BYU will never get anything like it as an independent.
BYU has bowl matchups with mostly G5 opponents - likely a PAC 12 matchups once every 4 years or so. There's actually nothing wrong with BYU's current setup, as San Diego, Las Vegas, and Hawaii are fantastic West Coast destinations for bowl games and should create competitive matchups. But, everyone needs to temper their expectations to meet reality.
BYU will not get a Notre Dame deal with any conference. But that's okay. We can still enjoy the ride while each year BYU schedules 2 or 3 PAC 12 teams, 2 or 3 teams from other P5 conferences, Boise St., Utah St., and finishes out most of the schedule with interesting matchups against other MWC and American opponents and fills in the holes with FCS opponents.
