Thought for the day: "Natural medicine" is an absurd term
The notion that if a substance is unadulterated then it is good or if it is synthetically manufactured it is bad is ridiculous and wreaks of a lack of a basic understanding of biochemistry and physiology. All substances are made up of molecules/chemical structures. Even water is a chemical with a molecular structure, that in too high of doses can kill. Potassium, an electrolyte needed for normal cellular function and human life found in many foods, in too high of concentrations can kill and is used for that purpose in lethal injections. But you won't see some ridiculous internet meme warning people about the danger of bananas.

Most medicine is derived from natural substances, which isolates an active pharmaceutical ingredient to achieve a desired goal. Aspirin and Taxol (a chemotherapy agent) from tree bark, elemental radium from the earth itself (radiation therapy), pain medications from poppy and antibiotics from mold are just a few of millions of examples. Its crazy to hear people argue that pharmaceutical companies can't patent natural substances and is absolutely false for many, many reasons. Most importantly because they have already been evaluated and simply do not do anything. The difference between "natural medicine" and medicine is that medicine has been proven to work.
