my daughter who is white and from Utah got in with a 3.2 GPA and 32 ACT.
So, I am not certain how they are making their decisions. But I do know that her seminary teacher, bishop, and stake pres think she is wonderful and added a lot of extra comments on the forms they fill out. I have heard that those comments are weighed heavily for marginal applicants.

She has also volunteered at the local food pantry for 4 years, the town library for 1 year, ran cross country 1 year, went to girls state, and had a job at a hardware store. She also plans to major in physics. All of those things might have made the difference.
