Most people saw the BIG XII as their best option w/ or w/o Texas. All I can imagine is that BYU must have been working on the ESPN deal for too long and with too many egos on the line to just walk away from it when a better deal came knocking on their door (if the BIG XII was in fact offering). They must have been too close to the deal to see straight.
