Which is incredibly inaccurate. Veteran combine results showed what happens when even premier athletes aren't specifically training for months for the combine are not as fast as they think. Felix Jones ran a 4.85. Michael Bush ran a 4.9. Harvey ran a 4.95. I've played quite a bit of ball with Harvey over the last year at Provo Rec Center and random churches. Dude is still in shape and fast out on the court.
People's perception of speed has been skewed by years of relying on old dudes clicking start and stop on a watch. Every HS kid thinks he runs a 4.5. My BIL used to run velocity sports, and they would laser time local HS teams. The fastest kids who thought they ran sub 4.5s were running 4.7s.
Now I don't pretend to know anything about Linton, nor saying he can't run a 4.9. I'm just saying that people hear 4.9 seconds and think that is slow. It certainly isn't blazing for D-1 athletes. But most people aren't close to D-1 athletes.
