us to stay independent. I believe the upside to independence is greater than the upside to joining a P5. ND thought the same thing. It partnered up with the ACC because it thought the bottom was going to fall out and it would be stuck on an island, but the bottom never did. If BYU could have a couple seasons in a row where we finish in the top 10, knocking off some giants along the way, BYU could be in an excellent spot. It just hasn't been the case.

There is no safety net with Independence, but the upside if you can string a couple special years together is very high.
