that you're over-glamorizing LaVell's era. He was able to have the great records because we were in a weak conference and didn't play very many quality teams (much like Boise St's success now). LaVell's teams really struggled in bowl games mainly because they were going against better opponents.

Bronco is very similar to LaVell in terms of success against similar opponents.
