One thing that is almost never considered
Most state schools receive a large portion of their budget from taxpayer funds. Utah gets something like 11 million from the state for the athletic department. If you took that state money away there are very few, if any schools that operate in the black at all. I think discounting state money is fair when analyzing a programs budget since it's not money the program earned, it's free money at the taxpayers expense.
