Despite my comment above, my brother swears by this truth.
He's rarely had soda of any kind over the last 20 years or so, just doesn't drink the stuff, and if he randomly tastes it, he says it's beyond bad -- just tastes like acid and thick corn syrup. I haven't had that experience, but maybe I've just never gone long enough without tasting it.
