I think this is part of the problem
It was interesting in the Harvard Nurse study that even those who only drank diet soda gained an average of 5 lbs. per year more than those who did not drink any soda. It might not be the calories, but I think it might just change your affinity for other foods as well. Of course, it could just be that people who avoid soda altogether choose healthier options with other food decisions.
