While doing an internship between my junior and senior years of college, I would drink Mt. Dew everyday after lunch to keep myself awake. One day as I drank the Mt. Dew I had an experience where it felt like my body was asking me why I kept pouring this junk into it. I stopped drinking Mt. Dew that day. Since then, I hardly drink soda of any kind.
I made peace with water as another poster suggested. I drink at least two quarts of water a day. I have also started drinking whole milk again.
