If you're LDS, perhaps not seeing an LDS counselor. They can be very helpful to
many, but counseling someone to pray more, fast more, or read the scriptures more may not be what's causing the depression. Had a friend's wife deal with depression for years, and she got the same response from all the LDS counselors. It wasn't until she went to a non-LDS counselor that she received the help that she needed, and the guy recognized she was LDS within the first few minutes of their first meeting without her ever mentioning her religion.
