1) If BYU joins a G5 conference it is absolutely easy to justify saying they no longer count as a P5. Because they are G5.

2) Even so, why would it matter? We would be stuck playing a full AAC schedule which means we would no longer play an independent schedule so we wouldn't be scheduling the P5 schools throughout the year anyways.

3) We are already playing MWC/AAC teams in October and November. Joining them would gain us nothing there except losing the opportunity to play the P5 schools that we currently have scheduled in October and November and giving up all future chances to sign more good games

4) We already have contracts with all of those bowls you mentioned.

5) Why would ESPN be more likely to sign us when we are playing less good teams?
