1) Meaningful games in October and November, including BYU-Boise St. rivalry.
2) Bowl options - New American with Boise St. and BYU will likely land familiar bowls like - Las Vegas, Poinsettia, Hawaii, Armed Forces
3) More likely to keep the ESPN contract

We have all of these things already. You could argue no meaningful games in November, but I would tell you that Cal last year was more important than any game would have been in the American. Many years (last year would have been one) you are out of the conference championship game long before the last game.

BYU fans often think that conference games is what kept us interested in the past (and there were years that was the case). The real item that kept us interested was the Utah game. We could go 8-5, but if we beat Utah we had bragging rights the rest of the year. It was the last game so you were always building to that game whether it had conference title implications or not.
