It definitely benefits UVU and I'm not worried about 'losing' BYU fans due to
a loss.

There's no benefit to BYU.

I think that the costs are as follows:
- Potential loss given that UVU players could come into the game hyped out of their minds for the cross-town rivalry;
- Potential 'rivalry game' for UVU that could be used to spark school spirit and marginalize interest in BYU (minor point--but still exists).

There's no reason to play UVU. Why give them a reason to feel relevant?
