I put talks in quotation marks for a reason.
There weren't "talks" in any real sense of the word. BYU simply made its best case and the Big 12 went elsewhere.

According to Chuck Neinas,

"BYU made no demands on anything. Neinas said the process did not work that way a committee met with officials from the schools targeted and BYU was gracious and made a compelling case, but that TCU was an easy choice by geography and West Virginia was a land grant school with a rich history of athletic achievement and Washington DC Metro area was very attractive if the conference was going to have to travel."

"There is no negative to BYU Sunday play or otherwise."

"ESPN was part of the process, they had a voice in the evaluation... BYUTV was not a sticking point, it did not come up."

That confirms everything that Holmoe has said exactly.

I know it's hard for BYU fans to accept, but the Big 12 just didn't want us. End of story.
