BYU did not know about West until after he signed the LOI first off
He signed the LOI Feb 4, got arrested Feb. 6 and BYU found out that day.
"According to sources close to the West family, BYU coaches — in particular wide receiver coach Guy Holliday — were informed about West’s legal issues the day he was taken into custody and have been in constant contact with West."

Second, the kid still has not been enrolled by BYU. Can you figure out why?
Utah enrolled those guys. And it has worked out great with Paul, all credit to him. Gordon not so much. But they are still not quite the same.
