And that's the reason things are smoother for them
They have a fraction of things to be concerned with than Microsoft. Microsoft has to balance business and consumer customers and provide tons of backwards compatibility. Apple only worries about consumers and all but forces them to upgrade so they don't have to worry about as much backwards compatibility.
