Here is what we get by being P5 conf members rather than P5 recognized Indy:
1: P5 conference revenue
2. Automatic access to certain bowls because of deals
3. Built in schedules, especially in November (which is hard to schedule as an independent)
4. More leeway for a loss or two
We might be able to earn some of these things as an independent, but it's much less certain and takes much longer. If we get P5 we don't have to wonder too much about the future of BYU sports. It will feel much more stable much more quickly.
