New to the board, but I am already getting frustrated! I swear I will beat my Pug with this keyboard if there is anymore banter about inside sources or private conversations about getting a BigXII invite. My heart can't handle it! I have decided to look at the FACTS and tune the rest of the crap out.

The facts are:

#1- The BigXII was left out of the first college football playoff for one reason.
No conference championship.

Both Baylor and TCU were ranked above OSU all season long, and both teams had a much better loss than OSU's embarrassing blowout to a terrible VT team. That 13th game (a 59-0 massacre of ranked Wisconsin) was enough for OSU to jump both B12 teams. Not having an outright conference champ cost the BigXII a spot in the playoff. It will take an undefeated B12 team to get into the playoff... Which means we should all be rooting against B12 teams all season.

#2- The B12 has organized an expansion comitee.

Which means Bowlsby is feeling the pressure and recognizes the need to expand. I think he has been pushed into action having the AD of one of his premier programs come out and publicly trash the B12's lack of security, along with several statements from high profile coaches in the conference supporting expansion.

#3- Of the available options, NOBODY can offer what BYU can.

Competitive athletics across the board, better academics than 90% of B12 schools, and a national following. The one thing BYU lacks: A signature football season. 8-5 will not impress anyone. We need a dominant, top 5 finish. Both TCU and Utah played its way into P5 conferences.


Looking at these facts, it's hard not to feel confident about the chances of getting an invite. The Big 12 has recognized it needs to expand, and has organized an expansion comitee. Of the available options, BYU is in great position, analysts and even coaches (thanks Kliff!) and players have singled out BYU as the top choice. Then 2/3 members of the expansion comitee having BYU/LDS ties... Coincidence? I think not!! Now all we need is a standout, signature football season to turn some heads. This is the year to do it dangit!

Now for some speculation...If the Big12 does not expand I think it will be poached by the other P5 and the playoff will stay at 4 to hold the champs of the 4 16-team super conferences.

If the Big12 does expand and manage to secure its current members. I think we will see an 8-team playoff in less than 10 years... Which means everyone wins!
