Getting to 12 is about more than that one game, as I outlined.
It has other benefits, that schools like Iowa State, Kansas, etc, would want to push for. Namely, an 8-game conference slate.
Not every school is concerned about toughening up the schedule for the playoff. Some just want to get to 6 wins.
