But the implication is there. Fans who lived through or at least were aware of the Crowton years saying they are going to throw in the towel because of the depths the program has slipped to. Fans who refuse to recognize solid wins. Fans who nit-pick style, who are 'embarrassed' by a team that celebrated after beating Cal or what Mendenhall wore in any given game or the way the defense takes the field or Mendenhall's style of speaking. Fans who insist on being offended. These aren't people who simply 'refuse to overlook areas that can be improved'--for crying out loud, I refuse to overlook areas that can be improved. These are fans who refuse to concede that, while the program could get better, there have been things to cheer about, to be proud of and to enjoy, even in years we went 8-5. Not just like the last few years, but also most of the 90s.
So, yeah, maybe they aren't explicitly claiming the program's at its worst ever. But you can't tell that from their tone.
