I agree with his main theme but strongly disagree with his reasoning.
I agree with the general sentiment of his post (the idea that criticism of the coaches can get out of hand), but he becomes way too extreme when he says that everyone attacking the coaches is an "idiot" (this is a typical way for someone to dismiss the argument of someone they disagree with without using facts or evidence). He also goes too far when he says that all these attacks are baseless and defiant of logic - I have indeed seen some very valid criticisms made of the coaches which are in line with what I've seen on the field. Some of the criticism is not valid, but much of it is.

It feels very condescending. He seems to consider himself a better person for thinking the way he does, but morality has nothing to do with it when we're talking about FOOTBALL. Some people have different expectations and visions for the program and that is perfectly ok if disagreements are voiced in a respectful manner. I do think we're extremely rude to each other, but it comes from both sides and we need to consider it's just a sport we're getting all worked up over.

Finally, I'm not a fan of the whole mentality that a person must have been in someone's exact position before they can criticize them. "You were never a coach! You never played in the NFL!" Who cares? You don't need to, to know you don't like what you see. This idea that no one can criticize any of the coaches unless they've been a coach deprives people of the right to express their opinions on the state of a program they've invested countless hours and dollars into due to enjoyment alone.

Add to this the fact that it's BYU, and people take that mentality that they get into when someone criticizes a church leader. The coaches are paid to do what they do and aren't immune to criticism. Like I said, it should be done respectfully, but expecting people not to criticize when they've paid money and aren't getting the product they had hoped for is illogical.
