The newspaper article said he grabbed the guy by the neck...
...at supposedly there was some bruising. I hope it blows over, but once there's physical contact, you're in trouble.

Davis grabbed the man by the neck, according to the police report, and left minor bruising. The riot charge was added because several people were engaging in "combative" behavior.
