I've had the same trouble in the past with a couple who watch games with us.
The wife of the other couple likes to chit chat and hardly pay attention but continually asks us to explain "What just happened?"
It drives me crazy. If she wants to know, she should pay attention on her own.
The swearing thing, however, wouldn't help. In my case, it's the two guys who won't swear while the two ladies don't have as much of an issue with it.
It does seem strange to me that it's so common to assume the opposite.
