It's been awhile since we read it, but I recall thinking "Krakauer spent most of the time hiding in his tent, then spins the story like he is both a credible witness to the events he didn't see and some kind of hero."

Hiding in your tent is, of course, an excellent survival strategy, no shame in that. But his spin/take on all the events seemed contrived.
