It is great in IMAX 3D, otherwise it is just a straight retelling of the story.

I was surprised how good it was. After I saw that they had named it 'Everest' I figured it would be just as bad as Vertical Limit, but I liked it very much.

I will say though, that I find the IMAX footage from the Breashears/Viesturs climb in 1996 to be much more exhilarating than the CGI in this movie.
