got made into a penalty because they did it for years in the league and never saw it called. So it would be more like the refs calling illegal defense in the NBA on the last play of the game. But even that is a bad comparison because that is actually called quite frequently. That is some obscure rule that never gets called. It is in the rule book and should have been called, but when 2 HOFers have no idea that it was even a foul, then I am OK with it not being called.
