You mentioned you had one growing up? I have two and they are like family. I'm not a hunter but I can't imagine a better dog for hunting than a Springer. Plus Springers are so very good with children. Ours are like our children. I can't imagine life without them. Also they are easily house trained. Depending on the variety there are some that barely shed. Honestly I could go on all day about their loyalty and how much fun they are. Plus they are great guard dogs...If they see an intruder.. they'll lick him to death!!! LOL
