That post was a mistake. But I do think there can be very good reasons to spend
more than $10K on a car. I think people often overemphasize the initial acquisition costs of a car, forgetting about long term ownership costs.

Would be interesting to compare costs of ownership on the car you buy for $10k v. a brand new Civic hybrid or something along those lines for about 20k. I think over 7-10 years, the costs of ownership may easily favor the new car.
