Sorry...that just isn't true. I didn't buy a new Honda Odyssey because I care
about my image.
I bought it because it was the primary car for my wife and 4 kids, who will spend a serious amount of time in it. I wanted something that I wouldn't have to worry about for a long, long, time. I could have gone out and bought a used odyssey, but at the rate these cars hold their value, the value wasn't there for a model 3-4 years older with less than $50k miles.
I am not a car guy. If my flux capacitor goes out I can't fix it. I don't want to have to worry about anything.
Now...certainly, some people care about image and that is why they buy new cars. But that isn't the case for everyone.
