I understand that, I just don't see why a coach can block a transfer
when it turns out it is not the right fit for the athlete. Why is the player locked down, but the coach can bail at anytime? The 1 free transfer may cause some more movement, but it is better for the athlete and the sport. What good is it for talent to sit on the bench at Duke, when it could be playing at Vanderbilt. Or why should a star be stuck at Bradley, when he can play at Ohio State? In another sport, why was college football deprived of Matt Cassels, just because he was buried on the depth chart at USC?

It can hurt the smaller programs, but they should be happy to of had the player for the time they had him. If they can't retain their stars, that is the schools' problem not the player.
