Fans need special seasons every now and then.
LaVell had a couple clunker seasons, several average to above average seasons, but he also gave us the run from 1979-1984, 1996 and the Ty Detmer era which yielded some program defining wins along with college football's most coveted individual trophy.
Even Crowton managed to give us a fun run for the first 12 games of 2001.
Bronco had a great resume, but I think what hurt him with some fans was that while we had a couple really nice seasons, we never got a special one.
Kalani can match Bronco's record or even exceed it, but he'll need to give us something special too or eventually fans will start to murmur.
